If you are new to custom software it may take a little while to wrap your head around the possibilities. Below is an overview of the custom software development process. Click the "Services" button to view a list of ideas for automating your business. It is all about efficiency.

Custom Software Overview

• We work remotely: We share a virtual office with you. You can invite us to view your screen or you can view ours while we talk on the phone. Working remotely is like having an IT department in the next office. If you are in the Portland, Oregon area we can meet at your office.
• Free initial meeting: We offer a free consultation meeting to go over your needs and determine if we are a good match for each other. Before the meeting we ask that you email us an overview of your business workflow and a description of what portions of the work flow you would like to optimize. Also, we'd like to see a description of the three most time consuming, repetitive tasks that you or your staff performs.
• Work flow Analysis: During the initial meeting we will walk through the various tasks you perform to run your business. We will analyze your workflow, identify inefficiencies that can be automated and discuss your wish list. After the meeting we will follow up with a report detailing your options, costs and projected savings.
• Flow chart: If we decide to work together the next step is to collaborate on a flow chart of your work flow to make sure we are all on the same page before we begin building your software.
• Design: During this stage we build the software according to the flow chart logic that we agreed to. If possible we will start by automating and implementing the most time consuming, expensive and inefficient tasks on the flow chart. This will start us out with the most bang for your buck and the savings you realize can help fund the rest of the project. Whenever possible we reuse code from previous projects or templates to reduce your costs.
• Implementation: Throughout the design process we work with you and your employees to review the design progress and make sure the user interface is intuitive and accurate. After testing is complete and all users are trained we take the new software live.
• Additional development: The development process can continue in the background after the new software is installed and in use by you and your employees. As you think of additional tasks you would like to automate we can add them on the fly. With filemaker there is no need to reinstall updates. You hardly will know we are working in the background except that a new button or field may suddenly appear in your screen occasionally.

Since 2001 I have been working as an independent, full time Filemaker developer in the Portland, Oregon area. Filemaker is a flexible, cross platform programming language. It has been around since the mid 80's and has continued to evolve into a very powerful business tool. Over the years I have found Filemaker to be invaluable for managing the information small businesses deal with everyday.

• Custom software developed with Filemaker:
• • Cross Platform: We build software that is compatible with Mac, Windows, iPad and iPhone. It is also securely accessible from anywhere via web browsers. You can give vendors and customers limited access to your data or allow your employees to work from home or the field.
  • Automate your business: Such things as ordering, invoicing, document management, scheduling, faxing, scanning, emailing, printing, reports, payment reminders, cancelation notices, contracts and more!
  • Auto email: Reminders, invoices, notices can be sent out automatically.
  • Quickbooks: Your custom software can be connected to Quickbooks. For example invoice and PO information from your custom software can be exported to Quickbooks with the click of a button.
  • Excel: Import and export excel documents and integrate the data into your custom software. Filemaker can do most everything you are doing with excel but with an added level of automation.
  • Web: We can give you control of your web page or create a web page for you that is controlled by your custom software. For example, if you sell used items online, you can easily edit your online inventory page yourself to keep it up to date with your current inventory. No web design experience required.

• Remote Training:
• Many computer users have never really taken the time to learn the basics of using a computer. A solid understanding of the basics can make an employee much more productive. We have listed some free online videos in the "Resources" area that teach the basics. Setting aside a small about of time for employees to review some quick training videos can be very beneficial. We can also train and evaluate your employees remotely.
